Villa Gans, Cultural heritage monument in Oberursel, Germany
Villa Gans is a substantial English-style country house in Oberursel set on a generous property with various outbuildings including greenhouses and stables. The estate was converted into a hotel in 2016, preserving the original architecture while adding modern guest rooms.
The house was built between 1909 and 1910 on a site that was previously covered with chestnut trees, designed by a notable architect for a wealthy businessman. After World War II, it found new purpose as an educational center for young trade unionists before eventually returning to private use.
The building served as a gathering place for young trade unionists who came here to learn and stay together. This role gave it special meaning in the community's social life.
Parking and vehicle access are located directly on the grounds, making arrival by car straightforward. The location on Königsteiner Straße also allows access via public transportation.
The park grounds contain more than 50 protected trees, including rare species such as giant sequoias and weeping beeches. This botanical variety makes a visit worthwhile beyond just the house itself.
