Wallfahrtskapelle Etzelsbach

The Wallfahrtskapelle Etzelsbach is a Gothic Revival pilgrimage chapel located in the Eichsfeld countryside. The structure displays pointed arches, ribbed vaults, and narrow windows that characterize this architectural style and allow light to fill the interior.

The chapel was built in 1898 by Franciscan Paschalis Gratze and replaced an earlier structure from 1801 that could no longer accommodate the growing number of pilgrims. This new construction was part of a long-term effort to better serve the religious needs of the faithful.

The chapel houses a wooden Pietà from the 16th century, discovered by local farmers and still at the center of religious ceremonies and community gatherings today. Pilgrims come here to pray before this artwork and participate in a tradition that connects generations.
