Wallfahrtskirche Mariä Himmelfahrt, Neoclassical pilgrimage church in Dorfen, Germany

The Wallfahrtskirche Mariä Himmelfahrt is a Neoclassical church in Dorfen featuring robust composite wall pillars and barrel vaults. The ceiling frescoes were painted by Johann Huber in 1786 and define the character of the interior.

The nave vault collapsed in 1782 and was rebuilt by Mathias Rösler while preserving the late Gothic choir and tower foundation. This combination of Gothic and Neoclassical elements shapes the building.

The church serves as a pilgrimage destination in Upper Bavaria, drawing visitors who come to venerate Mary. Inside, apostle statues line the pillars, with some created by sculptor Christian Jorhan.

The church is located in Dorfen's town center and is easily accessible by foot. Visitors should take time to look around the interior to appreciate the organs and sculptural decoration.

The bell tower holds six bells, including a historic bronze bell from 1795 that still rings today. Five steel bells from 1949 complement the older bell.
