Wandelhalle, Pump room in Bad Kissingen, Germany.
The Wandelhalle is a pump room in Bad Kissingen with three sections separated by columns in a basilica-style layout. The structure uses reinforced concrete to create an open, bright interior where visitors can access different mineral springs directly.
Max Littmann designed this structure between 1910 and 1911, using modern reinforced concrete techniques that were advanced for that era. The building represented an innovation in how architecture could support the growing spa culture of the time.
The hall takes its name from the idea of strolling, and stepping inside shows that purpose clearly. You see visitors from everywhere sampling waters and spending time here as part of their daily rhythm.
The hall is accessible during daytime hours, and wheelchairs are welcome throughout the building. You can simply walk in at your own pace and sample the waters without needing to rush.
Four different mineral springs flow inside the hall, including the Rakoczy Spring, which visitors can tap directly. This makes it a place where you can immediately taste and compare the distinct flavors of the local waters.
