Archaeological excavations have revealed Roman settlement traces from the 2nd century, while the first documented mention of the estate dates to 1199.
The building now functions as a community center, hosting symphony orchestra performances, theater productions, art exhibitions, and numerous social gatherings.
Visitors can access multiple event spaces, meeting rooms, and cultural facilities within the building, which operates under the management of Zug um Zug e.V.
From 1432 until 1803, the estate served as a residence for Altenberg Abbey monks, who maintained trading privileges and operated a ferry service.
