Weißiger Schloss, Medieval château in Oßling, Germany
The castle features architectural elements from multiple periods, with its structure rising prominently above the northern section of Königstuhl hillside at 80 meters elevation.
Construction of Weißiger Schloss started before 1214, making it one of the earliest documented castle structures in the region under ownership of the Bishop of Worms.
The castle reflects the architectural transitions between Gothic and Renaissance styles, demonstrating the evolution of German castle construction throughout different periods.
Visitors can access the castle grounds through the Heidelberger Bergbahn funicular railway, which connects the structure to the main urban center.
Despite experiencing damage from wars and lightning strikes during the 17th and 18th centuries, parts of the original castle structure remain visible for examination.
