Fußgängerplattform am Selterstor, Pedestrian bridge in Giessen, Germany
The concrete platform spans 50 meters in length and 24 meters in width across the intersection of Anlagenring, Frankfurter Street, and Seltersweg pedestrian zone.
The structure was inaugurated on September 28, 1968, during a period when urban planning centered on car-friendly city concepts, replacing a previous roundabout.
The structure earned its nickname 'Elefantenklo' due to its three large openings above the intersection, resembling an oversized toilet structure.
Four corner access points feature stairs and escalators, with an elevator added later to provide accessibility for all pedestrians crossing the major intersection.
A water curtain installation operates since June 2014, creating a visual element at the Selterstor area of the elevated concrete platform.
