The DDR Museum Pforzheim contains three main exhibition areas focusing on public life, state ideology, and residential living in East Germany.
Klaus Knabe established this institution in September 1998 to document and present the history of East Germany from 1945 to 1990.
The museum collection includes 250,000 objects representing education, daily routines, and social structures during the German Democratic Republic period.
Visitors can explore the museum every Sunday between 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM, with guided tours starting at 2:00 PM.
Former East German citizens serve as guides, sharing their direct experiences of life under the communist system through personal narratives.
