Schloss Bedernau, Architectural heritage monument in Bedernau, Breitenbrunn, Germany.
Schloss Bedernau is a three-story château in Breitenbrunn featuring a cubic form topped by a pyramid roof and a central staircase tower. Four round corner towers with conical roofs punctuate the structure at each cardinal point.
First documented in 1453, the castle belonged to the Stebenhaber family of Memmingen. Following a period of decline, extensive renovations in the 17th century restored and renewed the structure.
The castle connects to St. Georg Church via a bridge from its southeastern tower, offering access to a private prayer room inside the church.
The main entrance to the castle is accessed via a bridge adorned with neo-baroque stone balustrades built in the late 1800s. This decorated approach sets the tone for visiting the estate.
The second floor holds a hall spanning three by two bays, crowned by a collar beam roof from 1764. This carpentry system reveals the technical skill of builders from that period.
