Schloss Münchweiler, Baroque château in Wadern, Germany
The castle consists of multiple wings surrounding a courtyard, featuring a complete slate roof and decorative Baroque architectural elements throughout the structure.
Franz Georg Zandt von Merl commissioned the construction of Schloss Münchweiler between 1750 and 1752, with architect Christian Kretzschmar leading the project.
The castle chapel contains an original Baroque altar that predates the building itself and now serves as a venue for religious ceremonies.
The castle complex includes a hotel in the southern service wing, constructed between 1999 and 2000, and a café that opened in 2007.
The structure stands as the only remaining example of large-scale Baroque country castle planning in the Saarland region.
