Stadtkirche Neuhaus am Rennweg, Gothic Revival church in Neuhaus am Rennweg, Germany.
Stadtkirche Neuhaus am Rennweg is a Gothic Revival church building standing on a natural stone foundation below the marketplace. The structure features twin windows with pointed arches across its facade and contains roughly 350 seats within, along with a wraparound gallery and wood-lined interior surfaces.
The church was commissioned between 1668 and 1673 by Count Albert Anton von Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt and began as a small Baroque chapel next to a hunting lodge. The building was later renovated and received its present Gothic Revival appearance.
The interior displays stained glass windows from Ferdinand Mueller's workshop and houses an altar painting showing the Descent from the Cross by Peter Paul Rubens. These artistic works shape the visual character of the church today.
The building offers roughly 350 seats, including a wraparound gallery that provides additional space. Visitors should note that it sits on a foundation below the marketplace level, with wood-lined interior surfaces throughout.
The bell house built in 1924 contains three cast iron bells acquired after World War I, along with a small cast iron bell in the roof turret. This bell configuration tells the story of how the building replenished its sound after the war.
