ADAC-Zentrale, Office building in Sendling-Westpark, Germany
The ADAC headquarters is an office building with 24 floors rising 93 meters in Munich's Sendling district. Its distinctive glass facade incorporates over 1,000 individual elements in varying shades of yellow that create the building's recognizable appearance.
The project emerged after a 2004 competition that architects Sauerbruch Hutton won before construction began in 2006. The property previously contained the historic Sander Villa, an older structure with its own history.
The building houses visitor centers and conference spaces that show how the organization engages with members and partners. The location reflects the importance of automobiles in German society and functions as a hub for transportation-related services.
The building sits near Garmischer Street and Heimeranplatz station, both easily reachable on foot from the surrounding area. The location offers straightforward access to Munich's public transportation network and nearby services.
The older Sander Villa on the property was renovated and now functions as a library, archive, and conference space, preserving a historic structure within the new development. This adaptive reuse demonstrates how contemporary building can coexist with preserved heritage.
