Christoph 62 operates from Bautzen airfield in eastern Saxony, providing medical emergency services across the surrounding regions with advanced medical equipment.
The air rescue station at Bautzen Airport started operations on September 1, 1998, replacing the previous Dresden-based emergency medical services.
The helicopter crew includes pilots from DRF Luftrettung, emergency physicians from Dresden Municipal Hospitals, and paramedics working together in emergency situations.
The helicopter responds to approximately 1,800 missions per year, offering emergency medical assistance and transportation services throughout eastern Saxony.
In July 2023, the helicopter fleet upgraded to H145 D-3 aircraft, increasing payload capacity and enhancing operational capabilities.
