Christoph Nürnberg, Air ambulance helicopter in Nuremberg, Germany.
Christoph Nürnberg is an air rescue helicopter based at Nuremberg Airport, equipped with an Airbus H145 featuring a five-blade rotor and rescue winch. The aircraft carries advanced medical equipment designed for emergency response missions throughout the region.
The rescue station began operations on 1 July 1974 under military management. In April 1998, DRF Luftrettung took over operations and introduced modern equipment and procedures.
The rescue service brings together medical professionals from hospitals in Nuremberg and Erlangen who coordinate closely with experienced flight crews. This collaboration ensures patients receive expert care immediately upon arrival at the scene.
The helicopter reaches emergencies within roughly 60 kilometers in less than 15 minutes from takeoff. The crew operates around the clock and can respond in challenging terrain and weather conditions.
The rescue winch extends about 90 meters, allowing medical teams to reach patients in locations inaccessible by other rescue methods. This makes the helicopter essential for operations across the forested and hilly Franconian Jura region.
