Frohbotschaftskirche, Modern brick church in Dulsberg, Germany
Frohbotschaftskirche is a modern brick structure located at Straßburger Platz featuring a distinctive bell tower crowned with an onion-shaped roof. Its straight-lined facades incorporate neoclassical elements, and the building integrates a community center and kindergarten alongside the worship space.
The building was constructed between 1935 and 1937 as a modern brick church. Following severe damage from bombing in 1943, it was rebuilt in 1953 to restore its original appearance.
The name reflects a Lutheran tradition centered on joyful message and faith. Inside, visitors encounter artworks spanning different periods of the building's life, experienced during worship services and community gatherings.
The building sits at Straßburger Platz in the Dulsberg neighborhood and is accessible by public transportation. Visitors can explore the spaces during regular worship services and community events held throughout the week.
Four original bells from the 1930s still hang in the tower and continue to shape the acoustic character of the neighborhood today. The organ installed later created a connection to faith communities in other parts of Europe through its distinctive sound.
