Totnansberg

Totnansberg is a mountain peak in the Rhön region that reaches 839.4 meters elevation and represents the highest point of the Black Mountains. The terrain consists mainly of forested slopes crossed by hiking trails.

The peak formed through geological processes in the Rhön and was recognized by early inhabitants as a boundary marker between neighboring areas. Over time it became established as a natural point of reference for the region.

Visitors from neighboring regions gather at the summit to enjoy the views together. The mountain serves as a shared landmark that connects the surrounding communities.

Hikers can reach the summit via wide forest trails that are easy to walk and accessible from various directions. A mountain shelter called Würzburger Haus is located nearby and can serve as a stopping point along the route.

The peak is valued by birdwatchers because important bird migration routes pass over its summit. Visitors may observe flocks of birds passing overhead during certain seasons.
