Sky-Hochhaus, High-rise building in Bietigheim-Bissingen, Germany
The Sky-Hochhaus is a slender high-rise with 18 floors and a height of 70 meters in Bietigheim-Bissingen. Glass facades allow natural light to flood the commercial and residential spaces, with the lower ten floors housing businesses and the upper levels containing apartments ranging from 80 to 200 square meters.
Construction started in 2014 on a former freight yard site and was completed in 2016. The project transformed an unused industrial space into a modern mix of commerce and housing.
Local residents call this building 'Langer Jürgen', a nickname that reflects a personal connection to the city's past. The name honors Jürgen Kessing, who served as mayor during the time it was built.
The building has a narrow base of 24 meters wide on a 3,300 square meter plot, which required specific architectural design solutions. The vertical layout with commercial spaces on lower floors and residential units above makes it accessible to different user groups.
