Schloss Hemsendorf, Cultural heritage château in Jessen Elster, Germany.
The castle complex stands near the former course of the Schwarzen Elster river, featuring moats that encircle the entire structure to create a water fortress.
Christian Dietrich von Röbel commissioned the construction of the current castle in the late 17th century, replacing a previous water fortress mentioned in 1380.
The castle transformed from a noble residence to serve multiple community functions after World War II, including a kindergarten, store, and residential spaces.
A private investor purchased the castle in 2003 and initiated restoration work, making the property available for guided public tours during specific hours.
The castle grounds contain a park established in the mid-19th century by Rittergutsbesitzer Rittmeister Otto Peter Ludwig Ferdinand von Itzenplitz.
