Schloss Frauenbühl, Baroque château in Winhöring, Germany
Schloss Frauenbühl is a Baroque castle on a hilltop near Winhöring with four wings surrounding a square inner courtyard in a symmetrical three-story design. Arcades connecting the wings create a geometric arrangement typical of refined estates.
The original structure dates from the early 15th century but underwent complete transformation when Field Marshal Ignaz von Toerring redesigned it in Baroque style between 1721 and 1730. This renovation period created the castle as visitors see it today.
The Saint Bartholomew Chapel on the second floor displays religious artwork reflecting the castle's spiritual purpose. The gardens hold additional sacred spaces and pavilions that visitors can observe from outside.
The castle remains privately owned by the Count zu Toerring Jettenbach family and is not open to the public inside. Visitors can view the exterior and garden side from public areas surrounding Winhöring.
The castle grounds are defined by ancient linden trees, and between them visitors can catch glimpses of the Three Kings Chapel turret rising from the garden. These old trees and the chapel tower together create an unexpected landscape composition.
