The site served as an industrial waste depot for Bayer AG until the late 1940s before undergoing extensive environmental restoration in the 1990s. This transformation turned a former industrial location into a modern public recreation space.

The park is walkable from the city center and offers wide paths suitable for walking, jogging, and cycling. Visitors should note that dogs and grilling are not permitted.
