Schloss Falkenberg

Schloss Falkenberg is a four-story castle in Moosach with medieval building techniques visible throughout its structure. Each level displays defensive elements and a historical water supply system that served the entire stronghold.

The castle was thoroughly renovated in the 1930s by Friedrich Werner Graf von der Schulenburg, who was later executed for opposing Nazi rule. This restoration blended historical elements with contemporary improvements of that era.

The chapel inside shows how people once prayed in this castle, with its pointed arch design drawing your eye upward as you enter. You can see how the space was carefully restored in the 1930s, giving you a sense of how much care went into preserving this quiet spiritual corner.

You can enter the castle using either an old bridge or new stairs, depending on which direction you approach from. Guided tours are offered through multiple floors and help explain the different rooms and features throughout the building.

The castle retains its original 15th-century drawbridge mechanism, which remains fully operational and shows how medieval engineers solved practical problems. This working feature gives you a real sense of how the castle's defense system actually functioned.
