Pfarrkirche St. Nikolaus, building in Veringenstadt, Tübingen Government Region, Bade-Württemberg, Germany
Pfarrkirche St. Nikolaus is a parish church in Veringenstadt featuring a prominent bell tower reaching about 130 feet (40 meters) that rises above the town. The building combines Romanesque elements from the 1300s with 19th-century expansions and houses artworks spanning Gothic and Baroque periods, along with five cast bells.
The oldest sections date to 1316, when the Romanesque entrance portal and baptismal font were created. The current building took shape between 1862 and 1871, replacing earlier structures with new interior spaces and an expanded tower.
The church is dedicated to Saint Nicholas, whose feast day on December 6 brings families for processions and celebrations throughout the community. The patron saint's role as a helper and gift-giver continues to shape local traditions and gatherings each year.
The church sits in the town center of Veringenstadt with its tower serving as a landmark visible from many parts of the town. The interior is open to visitors during regular hours, and a small cemetery adjoins the site.
The five bells were recast after World War II following the melting down of the originals for war materials. These new bells bear images of Christ and Mary and ring at different times throughout the day.
