Kaiserlinde

The Kaiserlinde stands at the intersection of Lindenstrasse and Waldstrasse, serving as a central natural landmark in the Neunkirchen district of Saarland. This linden tree occupies a key location in the town center of Spiesen-Elversberg.

The original linden tree was planted on April 15, 1913, to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Kaiser Wilhelm II's reign over Germany. After storm Niklas destroyed it in 2015, a new tree with an 80-centimeter trunk circumference was planted in January 2021.

The tree shapes the identity of this place and lent its name to the nearby Ursapharm-Arena stadium, where football club SV07 Elversberg plays its home matches. It remains a gathering point and symbol for the local community.

The tree is located in a central, easily accessible spot in the heart of Spiesen-Elversberg. It is best visited during daylight hours to fully appreciate the setting and its role in the community.

After the original tree fell, a decorative flower bed with a large tipped-over planter was installed during summer 2015 as a memorial to the lost landmark. This temporary memorial preserved the memory of the historic tree until its replacement was established.
