Schloss Wiesentheid

Schloss Wiesentheid is a symmetrical stone structure from the baroque period with ornately designed facades and grand entrance gates. The building stands centrally in town and impresses with its harmonious proportions and carefully planned architectural layout.

Construction began in 1701 under Rudolf Franz Erwein von Schönborn and continued until 1754 under Joseph Franz Bonaventura von Schönborn-Wiesentheid. This lengthy building period reflects the enormous investment and effort such projects required from wealthy noble families.

The interior displays baroque ceiling paintings that reflect 18th-century artistic techniques. These works show how wealthy families of the period decorated their living spaces with ornate designs.

The castle is centrally located in town with parking areas near Kanzleistraße. Visitors can arrange tours through the local tourism office, which offers guidance in multiple languages.

The castle preserves its original baroque decorations and architectural elements in remarkable completeness. This preservation allows visitors to gain an authentic impression of how noble families lived during the baroque period.
