Burg Seldeneck

Burg Seldeneck is a castle ruin located on a hilltop near Creglingen, preserving sections of walls and arched windows from its medieval past. The site offers views across the surrounding valley landscape.

The fortress was first documented in 1265 under Heinrich I von Rothenburg, a local noble who held significant power in the region. Over time it passed into shared ownership among various families, reflecting the complex political arrangements of the era.

The castle reflects how medieval noble families shared control of their properties and lived alongside one another. This arrangement shaped local relationships and was a common practice in the region.

The ruins sit on a hilltop and require sturdy footwear for a comfortable visit due to the terrain. The location near the border between two regions is easily accessible by car from surrounding villages.
