Villa Max

Villa Max is a two-story residential building in Ambach featuring a gabled roof, baluster balconies, and ornate stucco detailing across its exterior surfaces. A three-story staircase positioned on the east side provides access to the various levels and shapes the internal layout of the structure.

Built in 1868, the property became the summer residence of acclaimed painter Gabriel von Max starting in 1875. He undertook architectural expansions to the building in 1876, making it a significant dwelling for one of the era's leading artistic figures.

The residence carries a strong connection to painter Gabriel von Max, whose artistic reputation drew creative circles to this place during his time of ownership. It became a gathering point where artists and intellectuals of the period would meet and exchange ideas.
