Fußgängerbrücke am Torhausplatz, Footbridge at Torhausplatz, Kelheim, Germany
The pedestrian bridge spans the Main-Danube Canal with a curved design supported by two steel tube masts reaching 18 meters in height.
Built between 1986 and 1988, this structure replaced the previous Altmühltorbrücke during the expansion of the Altmühl into the Main-Danube Canal.
The bridge received the Engineering Prize in 1988 for its innovative design, created by the Munich architectural firm Ackermann und Partner.
The bridge provides a 3.3-meter-wide walkway with a 61.84-meter span and maintains a navigation clearance of 6.85 meters for vessels.
The structure features 38 suspenders spaced at 2.3-meter intervals, connected to a main cable measuring 90 millimeters in diameter.
