Ritterhaus Museum, Regional history museum in Offenburg, Germany.
The Ritterhaus Museum is a regional museum in Offenburg with three floors of natural history, city artifacts, and cultural collections. The building itself dates to the 18th century and once belonged to the Imperial Knights family of Ortenau.
The museum was founded in June 1900 and has documented the development of the Ortenau region since then. Over the decades, the collection grew to include thousands of objects representing important phases of regional history.
The ground floor displays ethnological collections from the colonial era and the Cron collection of big game trophies. These objects reflect different cultural perspectives and hunting traditions that remain visible to visitors today.
The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday and allows enough time to explore all three floors at your own pace. Extended evening hours are offered on the first Thursday of each month for those preferring a later visit.
The exhibition 'Forest-Land-River' presents regional natural history collections with geological specimens and local nature knowledge designed for families. This approach makes natural and environmental topics accessible and understandable for visitors of all ages.
