Jahnkampfbahn Wald, Cultural heritage stadium in Solingen, Germany.
Jahnkampfbahn Wald is a sports stadium in Solingen with a grass pitch, running track, and floodlights. The main stand can accommodate nearly 5000 spectators.
Construction started in 1921, and the opening took place in 1928 with 8000 visitors, including world record holder Otto Peltzer. The facility has been rebuilt and modernized several times over the decades.
The venue takes its name from Friedrich Ludwig Jahn, who founded the German gymnastics movement, and his ideals continue to shape how local clubs approach sport here. Community members use the space regularly for jogging and walking, treating it as a shared green area.
From October through March, the venue opens Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings between 18:00 and 21:00 for runners and walkers under floodlights. The facility sits in a quiet woodland area and is easily reached on foot.
In 1948, 22000 spectators gathered here for a football match between Preußen Dellbrück and TSG Vohwinkel, the highest attendance ever recorded. Every December 6, the venue hosts the Nikolaussingen event, where residents come together to sing Christmas carols.
