Stadtpark Dessau, Public park in Dessau-Roßlau, Germany
Stadtpark Dessau is a green space of about 8 hectares west of the old town with wide paths and open areas for sitting and walking. The grounds connect directly to the nearby Bauhaus Museum, forming a linked visitor zone.
Early records of the land date back to the late 15th century, with the area later becoming organized as gardens and cultivated spaces. The site was gradually transformed into the park that exists today.
The park holds several named works: Reinhold Begas's bronze "Kentaur und Nymphe", a bust of Moses Mendelssohn, and monuments to poet Wilhelm Müller and composer Friedrich Schneider, both carved by Dessau sculptor Hermann Schubert. Müller wrote the poems set by Schubert in "Die schöne Müllerin" and "Winterreise".
The park lies west of Dessau's historic core and covers roughly eight hectares, with the Bauhaus Museum Dessau on its edge since 2019. A stele marks the spot where Alberto Adriano was killed on 11 June 2000. The grounds were restored from 1950 and finished around 1980, so paths and planting follow that layout.
A stele in the park marks the spot where Alberto Adriano, a contract worker from Mozambique, was killed on 11 June 2000 in a far-right attack. The monument keeps the date and the deed visible in the green space.
