Westwerk Leipzig

Westwerk is a cultural center in Leipzig's Plagwitz district housed in a former industrial building with large windows and open floor plans. The complex contains multiple exhibition areas, workshops, and retail spaces that host various creative activities.

The building was originally constructed as a factory for industrial valves and served as a production facility for many years. After the company went bankrupt in 1996, it was converted into an arts venue in the early 2000s.

Artists, craftspeople, and musicians work here and regularly show their exhibitions and performances throughout the spaces. The open rooms invite visitors to experience the creative work happening inside.

Westwerk is located on Karl-Heine-Straße and is easily accessible by public transportation. Plan to spend time wandering through different rooms, workshops, and exhibitions throughout the space.

The building gets its name from its west-facing portal to the main hall, designed in the New Building architectural style. This architectural feature is a subtle detail that many visitors overlook while exploring the space.
