Rabet, Community park in eastern Leipzig, Germany
Rabet is a park spanning about 9.6 hectares in eastern Leipzig with a central meadow surrounded by tree-lined borders. A meandering asphalt path winds through the grounds and connects different recreational areas.
The area was created in the 1970s after residential buildings in the densely populated Neuschönefeld district were demolished. The city developed this green space to provide recreation and leisure opportunities for residents.
The name Rabet originates from the 16th century and refers to a historical area between the former villages of Schönefeld and Reudnitz. Today, visitors can see how this heritage shapes the park's layout, which brings together different zones for various activities.
The park features several sports facilities, including volleyball courts, basketball areas, and a wooden climbing structure called Bounty for children. The pathways are well-maintained and various zones accommodate different types of activities.
A pathway about one kilometer long named Amöbe winds through the park and connects various play zones and sports areas. This shaped route is especially popular with inline skaters and team activities.
