Maria Himmelfahrt

The Maria Himmelfahrt Church features a three-manual organ with 70 registers inside a monumental baroque structure with high round-arched windows.

Construction of the church began in 1713 under parish priest Philipp Rappoldsberger, following the devastating plague that claimed 80 lives in Landau.

The church's baroque high altar, dating from 1725, represents a significant example of religious art from Lower Bavaria's architectural heritage.

Located at the upper end of Oberer Stadtplatz, the church stands 60 meters above the Isar Valley, making it visible from multiple points in town.

The church contains surviving altar panels from a previous Gothic building in its current Josef Chapel, connecting different architectural periods.
