St. Johannis, Lutheran church building in Verden, Germany

The St. Johannis church stands as a brick construction in the center of Verden, extending its influence from downtown to the Maulhoop residential area.

Built in the 12th century, St. Johannis holds the distinction of being the first brick church in Northern Germany, marking 850 years of existence in 2000.

The interior walls display medieval paintings and frescoes that demonstrate the religious expressions and artistic techniques of early Christian communities.

The church office, managed by Pastor Marko Stenzel, is located at Hinter der Mauer 32 in Verden and can be reached at 04231-2612.

Multiple choirs, including children's, youth, and the St. Johannis choir, along with the youth band Tunefish, perform during services and community festivals.
