Schloss Oldershausen is a brick structure from the 16th century with carefully designed elements such as vaulted cellars, side wings, a portal, and a terrace. Inside, a spacious courtyard organized the daily life around the estate.
The estate was built around 1538 by nobleman Adam von Oldershausen near a chapel. A fundamental redesign took place in 1859 when architect Conrad Wilhelm Hase reworked the building according to modern ideas.
The castle served as the seat of a noble family for centuries and continues to shape the character of the town. Its buildings reflect the different people and purposes that occupied the place over time.
The castle is currently closed to visitors due to structural damage to the buildings. It is advisable to check ahead before planning a visit to see if viewing the exterior is possible.
The cellar contains original stone vaults that have been sealed with bricks, revealing the earliest foundations of the family estate. These enclosed spaces show the craftsmanship from the time of its founding.
