Russian-orthodox church in Gifhorn

The wooden St. Nicholas Orthodox Church stands as a complete replica of the Transfiguration Church from the Vladimir Region of Russia.

German entrepreneur Horst Wrobel initiated construction of this church in 1995 after discovering the original structure during his travels in Suzdal.

The church functions as both a religious center and a museum exhibit, representing traditional Russian religious architecture in northern Germany.

The church building remains accessible through paid entry to the museum complex, which includes additional exhibits of historical mills.

Patriarch Alexey II received this church as a gift from the Wrobel family during his 1995 visit, establishing it within the Russian Orthodox Diocese.
