Schloss Tutzing

Schloss Tutzing is a castle with classical architecture on the shore of Lake Starnberg, built in a horseshoe shape with an English landscape garden and a large colonnade. The building complex houses multiple structures, gardens, and a music hall that make the ensemble a versatile location for various purposes.

The castle originated from a medieval fortress that underwent fundamental renovation between 1802 and 1816, acquiring its present classical form in the process. In the 1920s, a Hungarian financier made artistic changes to the facades and interiors.

The Evangelical Academy uses the castle today as a venue for discussions on theology, philosophy, and current social issues. Visitors encounter people from different fields who gather to exchange ideas and reflect together.

A palm house on the grounds was once converted into a concert hall, showing how creatively earlier owners repurposed the space. This transformation illustrates the castle's history as a place that adapted itself to new uses over time.
