Heilig-Geist-Kirche

The Heilig-Geist-Kirche is a modern church with a distinctive pyramid-shaped design located in northeastern Regensburg. Its interior is defined by large stained glass windows in red and blue tones depicting Pentecost scenes, and it includes a separate bell tower housing four bronze bells.

Construction began in 1971 to serve the growing population in northeastern Regensburg with a new parish separate from St. Josef Reinhausen. The bronze bells were installed in the separate bell tower in 1980, establishing a key landmark for the area.

The church serves as a gathering place for the local community and hosts various religious and social events throughout the year. Visitors can observe how the stained glass windows with their red and blue tones shape the spiritual experience inside.

The complex is easy to locate with its distinctive pyramid roof and separate bell tower serving as clear landmarks. The site includes a community hall and parish residence alongside the main church building, creating a spacious religious campus.

A distinctive feature is the light shaft on the western side that casts natural light directly onto the elevated altar, making it the visual focal point throughout the day. This architectural design element creates an ever-changing play of light as the sun moves, giving the altar a naturally illuminated presence.
