Turmruine St. Georg

Turmruine St. Georg is a brick tower that stands on Kellerberg and dates back several centuries. The remaining structure shows typical features of brick construction and is visible from the nearby Schloss Blumenthal above.

The tower has roots in construction from the 14th century and was altered and expanded many times over later centuries. In the 19th century it lost its original religious purpose and was partly demolished.

The site was once a central building for the local religious community and continues to shape the landscape around Aichach. Visitors can sense the importance such structures held in regional life.

The ruins sit in open countryside and require a walk through fields and paths from Schloss Blumenthal. Wearing comfortable shoes is wise, and caution is needed in wet weather when paths can become slippery.

The tower was originally part of a complete chapel before it was converted into a standalone structure during the secularization campaigns of the early 19th century. This transformation makes it a rare example of how religious buildings were reimagined during that era.
