Zellhof, human settlement in Germany
Zellhof is a small hamlet in Schöngeising with historic farmstead buildings made of wood and brick with steeply pitched roofs. The structures show traditional building methods that used local materials to create homes suited to the climate and rural landscape.
The area has been inhabited for many centuries as part of a network of farms that supplied nearby villages. The main buildings were constructed in 1870 and later restored by the Weiß family starting in 1970 to preserve their historical character.
The farmstead reflects rural life in this region through its layout of buildings, gardens, and spaces for animals. The arrangement shows how families organized their daily work around farming and self-sufficient living over many generations.
The hamlet is reachable by local roads from Schöngeising and is well suited for walking or cycling through the area. Spring and early fall are ideal times to visit when weather is mild and the surrounding landscape is green and full of growth.
A natural spring feeds a fountain on the property without electricity and historically powered a water wheel that still turns today producing small amounts of power. The St. Vitus chapel on the grounds dates to 1315 and is the only building protected as a historic monument.
