Mordaualm, sogenannter Kederbacher-Kaser

The Mordaualm, also known as Kederbacher-Kaser, is a single-story stone building with a flat gable roof located at about 1,200 meters elevation in the Lattengebirge mountains. The structure has thick walls, small windows, and appears sturdily built to withstand the harsh mountain conditions.

The hut was built between the 18th and 19th centuries as part of the expansion of farming into higher Alpine areas. Its existence records the economic growth of Bavaria's mountain regions across multiple generations.

The building reflects the way herders and farmers lived here for generations, raising livestock and making cheese at this elevation. The simple design and room layout show how people worked daily in these mountains and organized their lives.

The hut is reachable by hiking trail and requires several hours of walking and steady effort. Good hiking boots and weather-resistant clothing are essential, as conditions at this elevation can change quickly.

The place is known for serving fresh buttermilk and other traditional dairy products to visitors. This handmade production using old recipes offers a direct taste of Alpine tradition.
