St. Laurentius is a plastered hall church in the centre of Neufang, standing behind a dry-stone boundary wall that encloses the churchyard. Red crenellated quoins mark the vertical edges of the facade, and the four-storey choir-flank tower carries a pointed spire. Gothicising tracery windows and portals open the walls; the main portal bears the relief of the coat of arms of Bamberg prince-bishop Johann Georg II Fuchs von Dornheim.

The building was constructed between 1626 and 1630 under the direction of architect Giovanni Bonalino, who shaped Baroque forms in the region. This period left its mark on many churches in the surrounding area and reflects the artistic taste of the time.

The parish was separated from Steinwiesen in 1492, and the church is dedicated to Saint Lawrence, whose figure stands at the centre of the high altar, flanked by John the Baptist and James the Elder. The four Evangelists sit before the pulpit, which is crowned by a sound board.
