Stadtpfarrkirche St. Marien

The St. Marien Parish Church features a neo-Gothic tower designed by Karl Friedrich Schinkel, along with an elongated rectangular choir from the 13th century.

After severe damage during World War II in 1945, the church remained in ruins until reconstruction efforts began in 1992, leading to completion in 1997.

The church building combines religious services with secular functions, housing the municipal library and hosting regular art exhibitions in its modern interior spaces.

Visitors can access the church tower, explore the library facilities, and attend concerts on specified days between 10:00 and 18:00, with guided tours available upon request.

The innovative reconstruction project introduced 'Die Arche,' an architectural structure within the church that creates multiple functional levels while preserving the historical walls.
