The Stadtkirche Fürstenberg/Havel is a cruciform brick church built in 1845–1848 by Friedrich Wilhelm Buttel, a pupil of Schinkel, in an Italianate round-arch style. Its east front toward the market is three-storeyed with blind tracery, crowned by a slender octagonal turret with a pointed spire; grouped round-arched windows with trefoil and rosette tracery light the nave, and a polygonal apse closes the west end.

Fürstenberg was first recorded as a parish with a priest named Arnoldus in 1287, under the patronage of the Mecklenburg dukes; Matthias Bracht Kesselius became its first Lutheran preacher in 1551. Fires destroyed the nave in 1584, the tower in 1652 and the rebuilt church on 26 May 1807, after which the remaining masonry was demolished. Disputes over compulsory labour delayed the new build until 1845, and Friedrich Wilhelm Buttel, a pupil of Schinkel, completed the present church in 1845–1848. It was restored in 1963 and again from 1997 to 2006.

The church is an open church of the Nordkirche congregation, first documented as a parish in 1287 with the pastor Arnoldus. Its three cast-iron bells of 1954 from Schilling & Lattermann carry inscriptions from Romans 12:12: "Seid fröhlich in Hoffnung", "Seid geduldig in Trübsal" and "Haltet an im Gebet".

The church is an open church (offene Kirche), so the interior can normally be visited outside service times. It stands in the town centre of Fürstenberg/Havel, on the east side facing the market. The main entrance is the large round-arched portal in the west facade; the interior is entered at ground level from the aisle.

The three cast-iron bells were made in 1954 by Schilling & Lattermann and carry inscriptions from Romans 12:12: "Seid fröhlich in Hoffnung", "Seid geduldig in Trübsal" and "Haltet an im Gebet". The marble goblet-shaped baptismal font from the original furnishings also survives.
