The Fontenay, luxury hotel in Hamburg, Germany
The Fontenay is a modern hotel in Hamburg's Eimsbüttel district with seven floors, expansive glass surfaces, and a curved roofline. The rooms are spacious with wide windows, neutral furnishings, and views over the park or the Alster river.
The hotel was built in 2014 on the site of the older Intercontinental hotel and opened in 2016. Entrepreneur Klaus-Michael Kühne initiated the project to establish a new standard for luxury hotels in Germany.
The Fontenay reflects the modern identity of Eimsbüttel, where contemporary design meets established neighborhood traditions. The place is perceived by guests and visitors as a gathering point that embodies the local sense of openness and hospitality.
The hotel is easily reached by public transportation and connected to the main train station and other parts of Hamburg. The location allows comfortable exploration on foot or by bicycle through adjacent parks and neighborhood areas.
The roof houses a restaurant with only 40 seats and a wellness area with indoor and outdoor pools overlooking the Alster, offering guests a rare experience. The hotel also contains 20 luxury residential apartments with hotel services for longer stays.
