Храм Святителя Николая

Saint Nicholas Church is an Orthodox place of worship in Ingolstadt with a distinctive onion dome and hallmark features of Russian church architecture. Inside, religious artworks and icons reflect the faith of the community.

The building was originally constructed in 1848 as a military ammunition storage facility. After World War II, it was transferred to the Russian Orthodox Church in 1945, which has used it as a place of worship since then.

In 2007, Catholic and Protestant neighbors defended the community when Bavarian authorities tried to end the building lease. This unusual solidarity among different faith communities remains remarkable to this day.
