Dom der Rhön

The Dom der Rhön features three-tiered galleries supported by round columns and contains a wooden barrel vault spanning its interior space.

Construction of the church began in 1736 under Pastor Wilhelm Christian Höpfner, with local craftsmen providing materials and labor from nearby quarries.

The interior paintings, created by Johann Jacob Gehres between 1751 and 1753, depict biblical scenes across the gallery walls.

The church stands 48 meters tall and contains a Voit organ from 1786 with 26 registers distributed across two manuals and pedals.

The seating arrangement within the church reflected social hierarchy, with specific sections designated for noble families, clergy, and townspeople.
