Schloss Neuendettelsau

Schloss Neuendettelsau is a medieval castle in Bavaria with a horseshoe-shaped structure spanning two floors and surrounded by its original moat. The gabled roof and preserved water defenses still define the structure's exterior appearance today.

First documented in 1298, the castle established itself as an important noble residence in the region. Over centuries, ownership passed from the Dornberg family to the Barons of Seckendorff and later to the Eyb family.

The chapel in the northern wing displays stucco work and wall paintings from the late 15th century that give the space its historical character. These religious furnishings reflect how faith shaped daily life within the castle walls.

The castle remains under private ownership and visitors should respect posted access restrictions. You can view the structure from the exterior to appreciate its medieval design and water features from different vantage points.

The main hall contains a decorative iron stove from 1723 adorned with coats of arms of noble families. This crafted piece reveals the level of detail in furnishings that wealthy residents could afford.
