Gut Altfresenburg: Herrenhaus

Gut Altfresenburg is a classicist manor house with symmetrical proportions, matching side pavilions, and a hipped roof, sitting elevated above the Brenner Moor landscape. The property is surrounded by historic park grounds and protected water features that extend toward the Trave River.

The building was constructed in 1791 following designs by architect Christian Frederik Hansen, representing Danish classical style. Its origins trace back to a medieval castle structure from the 1300s that was eventually transformed into the modern manor we see today.

The manor provided shelter to religious refugees during the 1500s, playing a role in the region's spiritual history. This connection to early reform movements remains part of the estate's identity today.
