Gut Altfresenburg: Herrenhaus

The Gut Altfresenburg manor stands on an elevation above Brenner Moor, featuring a symmetrical design with parallel side pavilions and a hipped roof.

Built in 1791 by Christian Frederik Hansen, the manor represents Danish classicism architecture and traces its origins to a medieval castle from the 13th century.

The manor granted refuge to Menno Simons, founder of the Mennonite movement, in 1540 when Bartholomäus von Ahlefeldt owned the estate.

The manor house hosts civil marriage ceremonies twice per year, managed by the Bad Oldesloe registry office in its ceremonial room.

The estate includes protected water areas, a lime tree avenue in the manor park, and extends to the Trave River, which leads to the Baltic Sea.
