Baumkronenpfad Beelitz-Heilstätten

The Baumkronenpfad Beelitz-Heilstätten is an elevated walkway through the forest that stretches 320 meters and rises up to 20 meters above ground. Several observation platforms interrupt the path and offer views into the tree canopy and woodland below.

This site opened in 2015 beside a former clinic that served as a military hospital during both World Wars and later housed a Soviet military facility. The construction of the educational walkway followed recognition that this location held a unique past with compelling structures.

The walkway passes by aging clinic buildings that now stand quietly as part of the local story. Visitors can see how this place once drew people seeking recovery.

A visitor center at the entrance helps you navigate and offers information about the site. The location lies around 24 kilometers southwest of Berlin and has parking on-site plus an elevator for easier accessibility.

On the roofs of the abandoned clinic buildings beneath the walkway, a forest has grown naturally over years, with trees taking root in this unusual space. This accidentally created woodland is a rare example of how nature reclaims places.
